[Arch] A default swap partition would be great

Considering the amount of RAM in the board, enabling some swap would be useful, specially if one were to compile stuff.

Something along these lines:
Code: Select all
dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1024 count=512k
mkswap /swapfile
swapon /swapfile
swapon -s

Hi unrob, thank you for your feedback. We decided not to include a swap partition in our built-in images as swap on SD card means intensive reading/writing over the same region, hence it will shorten the SD card lifetime. However, you can still use a swap file as shown in the lines you posted, use an external USB stick as a swap only device, or use zram. There are several methods for swapping, hence we let the users choose according to their needs.
