PixieBoard Pro Archlinux Image into SD

Create a new ArchLinux® SD card


  • Download the latest Archlinux ARM PixiePro image from the Downloads Section .
  • Insert the microSD card into a SD adapter and insert it into the computer.

Using Windows

Win32DiskImager screen
  1. If needed, use 7zip to extract the .bz2 image to your computer so the image has the extension ".img"
  2. Download and install Win32 Disk Imager.
  3. Run Win32 Disk Imager. Make sure you open the program with Administrator privileges by right-clicking the Win32DiskImager.exe and selecting "Run as Administrator".
  4. In Win32 Disk Imager, click the blue folder icon to browse for the downloaded image.
  5. Select the Archlinux Image (.img file) and click "Open".
  6. From the device drop-down list select the device drive of the micro SD card
  7. Click "Write" and wait for the process to finish. This might take several minutes.
  8. Eject Micro SD card from the computer

Using Linux

  1. Navigate to the location of the Archlinux for PixiePro image. For example, if the image file is on your Desktop, enter the command: #cd ~/Desktop/
  2. Verify if the hash key of the .bz2 image is the same as shown on the downloads page (optional) $ sha1sum name_of_the_image.img.bz2
  3. Extract the image with the following command: $ bzip2 -dk name_of_the_image.img.bz2
  4. Install the Archlinux for PixiePro image into the micro SD card with the following command: #dd if=image_name.img of=/dev/sdX bs=4M where sdX is the volume name for your micro SD card.
  5. Run the command sync (or if a normal user run sudo sync). This will ensure the write cache is flushed and that it is safe to unmount your SD card.
  6. Eject Micro SD card from the computer
